Will customers know they are talking to an AI?

Yes. The voice agent says it is an assistant. Some people will hang up. That is a real cost, not a feature to hide.

The voice agent says it is an assistant. Some people will hang up, and that is a real cost of what I sell, not a feature to hide.

A dental clinic in Green Park and a restaurant in Khan Market both put a voice on a number people already trust. If that voice pretends to be the receptionist, the first person who notices will not leave a kind note. I will not hide the assistant, and I will not invent a percentage who stay.

It says so up front

The AI voice agents page is plain. It sits on the business number and talks like a calm receptionist. It names itself as an assistant before it takes the question. Usual asks come from your list: hours, the door, a price, a slot. A question it cannot answer is a ping, not a performance. It never sends anyone to voicemail.

What an AI voice agent is is the longer description of that call. This page is only the honesty problem. People can tell. Some will want a human. That is a downside of the product, not a footnote.

Chat is the same kind of honesty in text. The AI chatbots work answers from your prices, timings and services. When the list runs out, the thread comes to you. A bot that pretends to be Priya at the desk is the text version of a fake receptionist. People close those. I will not sell you a fake name.

A gym trial question at 10pm rarely needs a human voice. A coaching centre fee for the next batch rarely does. A swollen tooth and a table for six during Saturday service often do. The assistant should say what it is, do the usual list, and get out of the way.

Hang-ups happen

Some callers will hang up when they hear it is an assistant. I cannot give you that figure. I have not counted every hang up in Delhi NCR, and a made up rate would only make a thin list look fine.

The useful move is not a national statistic. It is a week of transcripts. You hear the usual questions that were answered. You hear the people who noticed and left. You hear the odd ones that became a message. That week will tell you whether the hole is the list, the number, or the fact that this caller only wanted a person.

A hang up is still better than voicemail that nobody plays. It is still a lost call. I will not dress it up. If your week cannot take those hang ups, you want a person on the line, not a cheaper voice.

Receptionist or an AI voice agent is the split between a hire and a build. The agent does the usual questions while you are mid filling or mid service. The person still does the call that needs a person. I do not sell the agent as a way to fire the desk.

The pros and cons of AI voice calling is the balance sheet. The pro is the phone is answered. The con is people know, some will leave, and a guess on the list becomes a review.

Hiding it is a bad idea

Hiding it is how you get a worse review than a hang up. The caller who feels tricked will say so. They will be right. A calm line that says it is an assistant, then gives the Saturday hours, is a shop that answered. A line that says it is Meena and then stalls is a shop that lied.

I will not offer a mode that skips the sentence. If you want that, you want a different vendor. The product I sell says it up front.

The same rule holds on WhatsApp and on the site. Do not put a human photo on a bot that cannot leave the list. Do not let it invent a fee so it sounds sure. Sure and wrong is how a coaching centre sends the old batch price, and how a salon books a colour on a stylist who is off.

Voice starts at Rs 25,000. Chat starts at Rs 15,000. Both are floors on the pricing page, not quotes. Neither floor includes a script that hides what is speaking. If keeping it live needs a paid number or a model, that line is on the invoice before I start. You own the thing, including the transcripts.

What I will not tell you

I will not tell you most people do not notice. They notice. I will not tell you most people do not mind. Some mind. I will not tell you a hang up rate for India, Delhi, or your area. I cannot give that figure.

A restaurant that already has a host who can leave the floor may not need this. A clinic that already has a desk that never misses may not need this. I will say so and stop bothering you.

What to do with a week of calls

Listen to a week of transcripts, or sit with the number for a week and write what people actually ask. If the list is short and true, an assistant that says so can hold it. If the week is mostly people who want a human in the first ten seconds, hire the human.

Then get in touch. Listen to a week of hang ups before you decide to hide the assistant.

The ones people actually ask.

Does the voice agent say it is an AI?

It tells the caller, first, that it is an assistant. It sounds like a calm receptionist. It does not pretend to be the dentist, the host, or you.

Will some people hang up?

Yes. Some people want a human and will not stay. I cannot give you a percentage. Hang-ups happen. Listen to a week of transcripts.

Should I hide that it is an assistant?

No. People can tell. Hiding it is a bad idea. The review will say you lied, and they will be right.
