Custom website or a template, what actually changes?
A template is a finished look you fill. A custom page is built for the one job the stranger must do. What changes is the files, the wait, and who can still log in later.
A template is a finished look you type into. A custom website is built so one stranger can see the hours, the fee and the next step without waiting on extra files. What changes is the weight, the path, and who holds the logins. I will not tell a dental clinic or a gym that custom always wins.
Wix, WordPress or custom is the tool names. What a good website actually costs is the spend. Is a Rs 5,000 website worth it is the cheap quote.
What a template actually changes, and what it does not
You get a home, an about, a contact, a gallery. You drop photos in. You publish the same week. That is real. A gym can be live on a Thursday.
You also get the files the theme author shipped. Sliders. Extra fonts. A blog you will never write. On the clinic set I timed, that pile sat at 8.8s, 2.4 MB, PageSpeed 54 in the middle. People leave after three seconds. I will not say every template is 2.4 MB. I will say many of the ones I open on a phone are in that eight to ten second band.
A Model Town gym that bought a theme with four sliders and a font kit looked finished on a laptop. On 4G the trial button arrived after the stranger had left. A Patel Nagar clinic that used a light template, hours and a WhatsApp write on the first screen, already did the Thursday job. I told them to keep it.
The look can still be yours. A coat of colour is not a different job. The stranger still needs a fee and a write.
What custom actually changes
NexBuilt builds the page for the job you named. Hours and fees on the first screen. A write that lands where you already look. Fewer files. The sample clinic site I measured: 1.7s, 89 KB, Lighthouse 100. That is one sample, not your gym.
Floor Rs 30,000 on pricing. Usually under two weeks for a site. Those bars are published. They are not a lift.
Custom also means I can refuse a feature that would make the page heavy again. A template store will sell you that feature as an add on. Both are choices. One of them is priced to look finished.
Custom also means the files sit in a host you can open. A locked theme account that only the seller can enter is a lease dressed as a launch. Ask who logs in after I leave, before you pick a side.
What does not change unless you change it
The listing. A custom page with last year’s Sunday still looks shut. A custom coat does not purchase a Maps slot. Google’s local ranking page says you cannot pay for a better local rank. Neither build buys the pack.
The road. A quiet colony stays quiet. I will not tell you custom invents walk ins.
The need to edit hours. Someone still has to type Sunday. Ask who can do that after I leave.
Model Town and Patel Nagar both have pins strangers trust more than a new coat of type. Fix the hours on the listing the same week you weigh the theme. That edit is free. It is not a reason to throw away a page that already opens.
How to decide without a mood about “bespoke”
Open the template demo on your phone, first visit, 4G.
- Wait past three seconds. The look is not the job.
- Fee missing. The look is not the job.
- Login you do not hold. The look is a lease.
If the demo already passes those three, buy the template and stop talking to me. If it fails the wait or the fee, custom is the next sentence, not a lifestyle.
Bring the live URL if you already paid for a theme. Weigh that URL, not the sales page. Theme stores photograph the laptop view. You need the road view.
Ask, in the same sitting, who can change Tuesday hours after the seller leaves. A pretty theme you cannot edit is a poster. A custom page you cannot log into is the same poster with a larger invoice.
Honest downsides
Custom costs more on day one than a theme key. You can still ship an empty custom page if you never give me the fees.
A template can be good enough. Throwing it away to feel serious is a waste I will name in the meeting.
What to bring to that meeting
The template URL you were shown, and the live URL you have now, if any.
Open both with me. I will say stay on the template, move to a lighter page at the published floor, or leave the URL you already have because it already does the Thursday night job.
