Is a Rs 5,000 website worth it?

Why a five thousand rupee quote is a different job from a page that opens, and how to test that quote on your own phone.

A five thousand rupee quote is not a figure I can back as a working website. The floor on the pricing page for a fast, mobile first site is Rs 30,000, and anything far below that is almost always a different job.

I will not invent a Delhi average that makes five thousand look normal. I have not priced every freelancer in the city. I can tell you what to open on your own phone before you pay anyone that little.

Rs 5,000 is the slip someone handed you. It is not a NexBuilt price. I do not sell a site at that figure. The published floor here is Rs 30,000.

What that quote is usually selling

A dental clinic in Green Park and a gym in Dwarka both get the same cheap pitch: a theme, a logo drop, last year’s hours, publish. Cheaper on day one is real. The first time someone searches on a mid range Android over 4G, the cheap page is often still a spinner.

People leave after three seconds. On the nine clinic pages I timed, the middle was 8.8s, 2.4 MB, PageSpeed 54. The sample I built opened at 1.7s, weighed 89 KB, and scored 100 on Lighthouse mobile. A quote that cannot survive that wait is not a bargain. It is a page the stranger never reached.

A Green Park dentist who paid five thousand for a theme still had a 2.4 MB home page and a form that mailed nobody. A Dwarka gym that kept a cheap builder because the trial button already opened on 4G did the right thing. The rupee on the slip is not the test. The phone is the test.

What a good website actually costs is where those cuts show up. How much a website costs in Delhi is the rupee page for the published floor, Rs 30,000.

The three checks before you accept five thousand

Do these on the URL they already shipped for someone else, not on a laptop in their office.

  • First visit, mobile data, a mid range phone. Write the wait.
  • Can a stranger read today’s hours, a fee, and send a WhatsApp without a call that rings out?
  • Whose name is on the domain login and the host? If the answer is theirs, you are renting a skin.

Pass on all three and a new page from this studio is optional. I will say that. A builder that already opens can stay. The cheapest thing that actually works is often the listing, not a new page at any price.

If the slip is five thousand and the demo fails the wait, you are not looking at a bargain against Rs 30,000. You are looking at a page the stranger never reached. If the demo passes, keep the slip. Do not upgrade for the feeling of a custom coat.

What I will not tell you

I will not tell you every cheap site fails. I will not tell you every expensive site works. I will not tell you five thousand “never” opens. I will tell you to run the phone test, because that is the only check I can stand behind without inventing a conversion rate.

I will not tell you a higher invoice buys more walk ins. A page that arrives can be used. Whether anyone then books still sits with the road, the reviews, the hours, and whether a person replies.

I will not match a five thousand slip to look busy. If you want the published floor, it is Rs 30,000. If you want the cheap page because it already works, keep it and do not message me.

Honest downside of paying the floor instead

Rs 30,000 is still a floor, not a quote. A clinic that needs services, a map that matches the door, and a slot while the dentist is gloved up can sit above it. You also own the hosting bill. I name that bill before I start. Usually under two weeks for a site.

The cheap quote has a downside I will not hide either. When Tuesday hours change, you may have no login. When the theme updates, the page often stays slow. You message a queue, or you message nobody.

Green Park and Dwarka both have owners who kept a cheap page after the phone test passed. That is a good use of five thousand. The bad use is paying it for a spinner you then point ads at.

What to do with the five thousand slip

Open the sample they sent. Time it. If it already works, keep the slip and do not message me. If it fails the wait, bring the slip and the URL.

Then get in touch. I will compare that wait with the floor, or I will tell you the cheap page already does the Thursday night job and the extra spend can stop.

The ones people actually ask.

Do you sell a site at five thousand rupees?

No. That figure is not on the pricing page. The floor there for a fast, mobile first site is Rs 30,000.

Can a cheap theme still pass the phone test?

Sometimes. Open it on a mid range Android over mobile data. If a stranger can read the hours and write before they leave, keep it.

What is the cheap quote usually skipping?

The wait on a phone, a booking path that is not a dead form, or your name on the domain and the host.
